With approximately 190,000 customers in the Capital region, their assets are worth over $3.2 billion comprising of the ACT’s network of dams, water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, reservoirs, mains, and water and sewage pumping stations. They turnover approximately $490M in revenue annually.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for a Senior Finance Leader to join the Finance and Strategy Group, helping the team move forward in a period of transformation. Led by a forward-thinking CFO, they continue to attract a team of high performing problem solvers. The long-term strategy is to continually move towards an enabling environment where manual processes are streamlined, and data is used to drive smart business decisions as well as implementing a new corporate services delivery model which has resulted in a wide range of opportunities.
A key part of this role will be to evolve the commercial Finance Business Partnering and enablement function and importantly, provide strong leadership to the team (13 staff in structure) through a period of change. In a new team structure, you will have the autonomy and authority to deliver best practice commercial finance, continuously improving the foundations in policy, procedure and business optimisation that will lead you and the team to success. In addition to this, you will be a key advisor to the Senior Executive, helping shape and influence key business decisions in an ever-changing context.
The Role
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead the Commercial Finance Business Partner function to ensure they provide strategic commercial finance support to the Business.
- Lead the Finance Enablement function, including finance system administration, financial system reporting capability and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic financial leadership in the end-to-end budget and forecast activities.
- Provide strategic commercial leadership across major procurement and commercial activities.
- Support strategic decision-making through finance and commercial leadership and providing data-driven insights.
- Collaborate with the business and Finance Business partners to continuously identify new opportunities to improve the level of services provided to the business.
- Drive the continuous improvement agenda with the Finance function and across Icon Water.
- Lead collaboration within the Finance team on finance data governance and data quality.
- Provide strategic direction in the adoption of new technologies within the finance function.
You are a highly regarded and astute Finance Leader with a background in complex commercial businesses that have led to expertise across commercial analysis and financial management. Being a subject matter expert and wanting to dive in to learn about the business is important to you as it allows you to add value by providing strategic insight and direction to the organisation.
Given the nature of this role, you will be an outstanding communicator who thrives in creating strong working relationships across business areas to impact change. You will enjoy the fact that your insights and expertise have contributed to tangible business outcomes and the continued success of one of Canberra’s best-known businesses.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance as well as membership to CA or CPA is required.
Salary / Rate
The salary band starts at $203,377 + 15% Super.
