Job description

Boom is currently seeking a highly organised and efficient Finance Business Partner on a full-time basis to join our East Coast business, based at Eagle Farm. 

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Partner with National Operations Manager and Business Manager’s in business improvement to drive ROI within the business units as well as financial modelling.
  • Partner with the business by supporting the GM’s, BDM’s, and BM’s in major account / contract administration and negotiation, contract review meetings, sales and operations planning meetings, rate review and contract variation administration as well as assessing contract profitability.
  • Provide financial and operational analyses to assist in driving improved business performance.
  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly reporting:
    • Profit and loss – including management of inter-company process, revenue accruals, salary and other cost accruals etc.
    • Balance Sheet – including management of asset register, accruals, debtors and creditors and management of purchase order process.
  • Develop and implement DCF models across the business to evaluate investment opportunities and to assist in contract and equipment pricing and capital expenditure requests.
  • Develop and maintain a robust and user-friendly pricing and customer profitability tool. This will build on other financial models used within the business.
  • Labour Cost modelling across the business to evaluate profitability of contracts and also assist with standard pricing formulas/rates schedules at Branches.
  • Working with Finance to support the GM’s and BM’s in facilitating all operational inputs into the annual budget and quarterly forecast process.
  • Assess the financial impacts of business improvement initiatives and opportunities. Support the execution of the initiatives and provide regular communication on outcomes.
  • Assist GM’s and BM’s with capital expenditure business case preparation and recommend approval. Monitor and critically assess capital expenditure spend against budget and liaise with the Fleet Performance Manager to reprioritize capital allocations to generate optimum returns.
  • On an “as required” basis, plan and lead business change projects and take specialist roles within projects lead by other sections / leaders. This may include writing or reviewing commercial papers and Board papers.

The ideal candidate will have the below skills and qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Business or Commerce discipline.
  • Proven background in commercial decision support within an operational environment.
  • Ability to liaise effectively across all levels of the business.
  • The ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a highly interactive and cross-dependent team.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral.
  • The ability to deliver focused outcomes within set timeframes.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, negotiation and modeling skills as well as sound commercial acumen.
  • A preparedness to take the initiative, a strong desire to achieve results whilst demonstrating a strong professional work ethic.
  • Exceptional financial modeling and analysis skills combined with an ability to get behind the figures and understand key operational drivers.
  • Experience in industrial services, contracting and / or asset hire business is desirable.
