Bidgerdii Community Health Service are seeking interested applicants with finance experience to fill our full-time Finance Officer role.
The role of the Finance Officer is to assist in delivering effective and professional financial and management accounting services. The successful incumbent will provide analytical and financial advice to support in the areas of budgeting, financial management reporting and analysis, funding, forecasting, financial compliance and financial reporting.
The Finance Officer will also be responsible for the daily operation and supervision of the finance team while supporting the maintenance of contractual and compliance management. In carrying out this role the incumbent shall work closely with other members of the Corporate Services Team by providing high level of support and assistance across the unit.
Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting with minimum 3 years relevant experience in bookkeeping, accounting including Accounts Payable, Receivable and Payroll.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising and leading a small team.
- Demonstrated experience in using financial management packages and Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Word and Excel, and MYOB (advance).
- Demonstrated experience in preparing monthly reconciliations and other end-of-month general ledger reconciliations
- Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight timeframes and in accordance with competing workload demands
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
- Demonstrated ability to build sound and respectful relationships within the team and organisation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise tact, initiative and sound judgment
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written skills.
- A knowledge of and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues, particularly in the health area which are affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Practical Requirements:
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential
- Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, COVID and pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment
- Satisfactory Police Check
