About the QNMU
The Queensland Nurses and Midwives’ Union (QNMU) is the industrial and professional organisation for nurses and midwives working in public and private health and aged care in Queensland. The QNMU seeks to promote and defend the industrial, professional, social, political and democratic interests of over 73,000 members. We have over 200 employees including organisers, professionals and administrative personnel, and manage a multi-million-dollar operating budget.

The Finance team strives to provide accurate, timely and useful financial information and reports to stakeholders to support decision making and to maximise utilisation and value of member’s assets.
 
The role of the Finance Officer exists to support the Finance team in the completion of accounting and administrative tasks including the processing and payment of creditor invoices, performing bank and general ledger reconciliations, and undertaking a range of accounts and administrative duties including payroll backup as required. 
 
Key outcomes include the timely processing and payment of creditor invoices in line with agreed terms, coordination with the Finance Manager to determine creditor cashflow requirements, timely reconciliation of accounts and general ledger balances, provision of standard reports to assist the Finance Manager in the delivery of the Finance team’s objectives.

Who we’re looking for:-
  • Experience in a similar administrative accounting role, including payroll and processing accounts payable and receivable transactions 
  • Experience in using financial accounting and HRIS/Payroll software, banking platforms and electronic records management systems.
  • TechnologyOne system experience will be highly regarded
  • Ability to maintain concentration in a volume processing activity such as data entry to ensure accuracy and identification of errors to be addressed
  • Highly developed organisational skills including the ability to plan and coordinate own workloads to achieve goals and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and efficient administrative systems and procedures
  • Sound knowledge of general accounting, clerical and administrative practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and take a collaborative approach to work
  • Someone who is self-directed, establish priorities, use initiative and be proactive in raising and dealing with issues
 
What are the benefits?
  • Starting base salary of circa $79,074.66
  • 5 weeks annual leave + 17.5% leave loading
  • Monthly ADO’s (13 per year) or opportunity to work compressed hours 9 day fortnight
