An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, approachable, and experienced finance professional to join an amazing and supportive Financial Services team of the City of Kalamunda as a Finance Officer – Relief reporting to the Coordinator Financial Services.

About this Opportunity

The role involves providing high-quality customer service and offering relief in various departments, such as Rates, Banking, Finance, Procurement, Budgeting, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Receivable, as directed. Responsibilities encompass assisting with Rates in property inquiries, changes in ownership, statement creation, debt recovery, and bin adjustments. Additionally, the role contributes to banking activities, including investments, cash flow management, trust receipts and payments, maintaining asset and plant registers, and handling insurance matters and claims. The position also involves assisting with the Budget process, including reviews and fees and charges implementation.

Other responsibilities include supporting monthly reconciliations and variance analysis, acting as a liaison with business units to address queries. The role serves as backup for accounts receivable and accounts payable and provides assistance in the procurement area with tasks such as purchase requisitions and orders. Furthermore, the position involves contributing to the documentation of processes and the creation of process maps.

About You

Our ideal candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, sound interpersonal and customer service abilities, the ability to work collaboratively in a team, good organizational and time management skills, a solid understanding of Local Government functions, excellent interpersonal and people skills, previous experience in Local Government finance is desirable, proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and a willingness to be adaptive, innovative, and flexible.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Previous finance or rates experience is essential.
  2. Previous local government experience would be viewed favorably.
  3. Ability to work in a team is essential.
  4. A willingness to be adaptive, innovative and flexible is essential.
  5. Very good written and spoken communication skills is essential.
  6. Have or working towards a financial diploma or recognised business qualification is essential.

Hours of Work

This is a permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 75 hours over a fortnight with negotiated RDO fortnightly or monthly.

About the Benefits

The salary range for this position is $79,557 - $92,536 per annum depending on skills and experience. Other inclusions are free parking, annual increments, EBA salary increases, a generous superannuation co-contribution scheme, 22 days annual leave (pro rata) which attracts 17.5% loading, Corporate Health Membership, free access to online learning, discounted membership at City owned recreational facilities.
