Diplomatik is currently on the lookout for a Senior Payroll Officer for our client based in the Perth CBD. This role is a 3-month contract with a view to a permanent role for the right candidate.
Duties include:
- Ensure the payroll is prepared in accordance with relevant Acts, Awards, Agreements, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure all authorised deductions are accurately processed, reconciled and remitted appropriately.
- Reconcile payments and reimbursements of Workers’ Compensation contributions and claims.
- End of year processing including reconciliation of taxation and superannuation.
- Develop and maintain current payroll operating procedures and controls, including checklists, process calculation templates, and forms.
- Document area specific requirements and rules for interpretation.
- Reconciliation of ATO submissions, superannuation, and other AP accounts after each pay period.
- Investigate and problem-solve payroll errors, and technical and management issues and apply the knowledge learned for business improvement.
- Analyse data and information to Identify and take initiative to implement payroll/system/process improvements to improve or enhance payroll services.
- Ensure the integrity of the payroll system by maintaining current and accurate system configuration and rules following relevant legislation, record-keeping frameworks, and all other relevant Council policies and procedures, and other frameworks.
- Test payroll changes for upgrades and/or considerable configuration changes.
- Ensure employee's master data is captured accurately and verified, which includes all employee processes.
- Maintain employee records relating to the classification, rates of pay, all leave entitlements, and award requirements.
Essential Criteria:

- Previous experience in payroll processing and interpreting and applying relevant legislation and policies.
- Ability to problem-solve and analyze information to resolve issues.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Strong numerical and verbal skills.
- Current Police Clearance (within the preceding 3 months
- Tertiary qualification in Payroll, Finance, or equivalent or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Experience working with online payroll software (especially Tech 1)
