Ogilvie Jennings is a well-established law firm, with offices in Hobart, Kingston, and Glenorchy. Our lawyers deal with a wide range of legal issues using a client-focused approach.
We are currently seeking an experienced Finance Officer to join our team in the Hobart office.
You will report to the Finance Manager and Directors and your duties will include data entry, trust receipting, daily reconciliations of office and trust bank accounts, trust and office cheques and EFTs, daily banking and accounts receivable and accounts payable duties, including debtor collection.
You will need to have excellent attention to detail and organisational and time management skills, be able to work autonomously, have a positive 'can do' attitude and excellent verbal and communication skills.
Whilst your day-to-day will vary, typical duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain all trust accounting records for our clients, to the highest standard, including:
- Processing trust receipts
- Processing cheque requisitions
- Processing EFT requisitions
- Trust to office transfers
- Conducting daily trust and office bank reconciliations
- Preparation of trust reporting and reconciliations
- Data entry, maintenance and reconciliation of accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Debtor collection processes
- Assist with gathering supporting documentation for trust account audits
- Assist and support our staff with general finance queries
- Other ad hoc tasks as required
Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated attention to detail and compliance with rules and regulations.
- Previous experience and knowledge of working with legal trust accounts is highly desirable alongside use of a legal practice management software program.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
