About the role
This is a fixed term (12 months maternity leave cover) position working 28 hours per week. This position is located at the Nowra Administration Building.
Duties
Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant – Compliance & Treasury, the focus of this position is to:
- Assist the Senior Accountant in managing the General Ledger including maintaining operator definitions and assisting users of Council’s financial systems, processing standard system journals, processing general journals, maintain, monitor, and reconcile Council’s Trust Fund (Bonds & Deposits), and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide professional assistance with random audits on various Council activities to ensure compliance with Council’s policies and procedures
Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will possess:
- Certificate IV in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within an accounting/finance administration environment.
- Proven experience in reconciling ledger and accounts.
- Demonstrated experience and skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Demonstrated effective time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines.
- Proven ability to ensure data integrity is maintained accurately with attention to detail.
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa).
