POSITION PURPOSE:

This multi-functional position is responsible for providing effective and efficient high-level and day-to-day financial services to The Girls & Boys Brigade (GBB) and The Girls & Boys Brigade Foundation (GBBF) to ensure the organisations meet their regulatory obligations and financial compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Banking

• Creating and managing financial documents for the GBB including, but not limited to, budgets, cash flows, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets etc.
• Preparation of any additional finance-related requests for the GBB if required by the Executive Officer or Board of Directors.
• Annual GBB budget preparation and continuous monitoring in consultation with the Executive Officer and Board of Directors.
• Responsibility for the entirety of the financial auditing process for the GBB.
• Managing the GBB’s financial database and record keeping system.
• Processing of all matters relating to staff wages for the GBB through TANDA.
• Preparation and processing of all matters relating to the GBB’s tax, superannuation and statutory requirements.
• Managing and monitoring the GBB’s cash flow, cash, bank accounts, payments and credit cards in conjunction with the Executive Officer.
• Processing of all electronic payments through the GBB bank accounts for the GBB.
• Management of all operational requirements relating to the GBB’s investments in consultation with the GBB Finance Committee.
• Researching, recommending, and implementing cost-saving initiatives for the GBB including renegotiating contracts, finding different suppliers, and reducing overall company expenditure in conjunction with the Executive Officer.
• Member of the GBB’s Finance Committee.

GBB Board Responsibilities

• Preparation of the financial documents in consultation with the Executive Officer for the monthly Board pack sent to Directors.
• Attendance to Board meetings.

GBB Fundraising

  • General financial duties in conjunction with the Fundraising Team as required.

The Girls & Boys Brigade Foundation (GBBF)
• Responsibility for the entirety of the financial auditing process for the GBBF.
• Administration and management of banking and investments for the GBBF.
• Preparation of the financial documents and agenda in consultation with the GBBF Chairman for the monthly Board pack sent to Directors.
• Attendance to Board meetings.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • A current Working with Children Check
  • A current Police Check
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role. 
  • An accounting qualification.
  • Extensive experience in financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close process, reporting and general accounting tasks.
  • Track record in evaluating efficiencies, and identifying, implementing and continually improving processes.
  • Sound knowledge and application of legislative requirements, including GST and FBT.
  • Proficient in MYOB Accounting Software.
  • High-level Excel skills, and proficiency in other MS Office applications.
  • Proven teamwork ability.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Professional presentation.
  • Excellent digital literacy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and show initiative and take on responsibility when required.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience in working with a small organisation.
  • Experience in working in a Not-For-Profit.
