Your role in a nutshell
The Body Shop Australia has an opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join the team in a full-time capacity initially on a 3-month contract (potential of extension/become permanent). Supporting the Finance Manager and broader finance team, the focus of the Financial Accountant will be to support the month end process and assist in the internal and external reporting requirements of the business within the deadlines set by the Group and various legal bodies. The financial account will also support commercial functions across the business.
The role is based at our Chadstone head office at Chadstone Shopping Centre along with our current hybrid working arrangement allowing employees to WFH 2 days per week.
More about the role
Financial Accounting
-Extract and provide financial information to the tax team for the completion and lodgement of FBT, corporate income tax, transfer pricing and CbC reporting.
-Assist as required with External Audit functions and internal Audit functions.
-Liaise with key global stakeholders to ensure information is shared between all parties.
-Support the completion of year end statutory accounts, tax lodgements and other reporting requirements.
 
Month end close and reporting
-Completion of month end under the supervision of the Finance Manager.
-Enter accounting journals for month end.
-Preparation of balance sheets and analytic review within the required deadlines, ensuring that the cut-off dates of the accounting periods are correctly taken into account.
-Assist with relevant investigation of variances to help prepare analysis and commentary of results and be a primary contact for FP&A Manager on queries relating to results.
 
Business Finance Support
-Act as the key contact point for the local market teams on completing finance forms.
-Propose and implement initiatives that aim to improve productivity and efficiency in the financial accounting and reporting function.
-Liaise with key global stakeholders to ensure information is shared between all parties.
 
Commercial Finance Support
-Support financial accounting, reporting and analysis of all channels (Stores, and eCommerce)
-Develop strong working relationships with business departments outside of finance to build a robust understanding of their operations and of their performance and variances against expectations.
-Utilise knowledge of the business functions, financial data and industry trends to provide support and analysis to enable decision making and identify areas of opportunity. 
-Work closely with the finance team in providing ad hoc analysis to support tactical and strategic outcomes.
-Identify and execute process improvement opportunities to drive better decisions and increase efficiency and effectiveness.
 
Compliance and Business Excellence
-Ensure sufficient governance and internal control procedures are operational to guarantee the reliability of accounting and tax information.
-Ensure familiarity with and monitor ongoing changes to accounting and tax regulations.
-Ensure that the Group's accounting procedures and principles are properly applied in relation to purchase orders, rents, fixed assets, accruals and provisions.
-Check that the accounting procedures and principles are correctly applied in close cooperation with Group Finance.

-CA qualified financial professional. 
-Ideally from a chartered background or experience in a large commercial business.

-Experience with an ERP package and Advanced Excel skills.
