We are hiring for a leading government agency their commitment to excellence and innovation has propelled them to success, and they seeking a dynamic Financial Accountant to join their team.
Responsibilities: As a Financial Accountant, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data.
- Overseeing financial transactions and reconciliations.
- Generating detailed financial reports and analyses.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and optimize efficiency.
- Utilizing your expertise in SAP to maximize the functionality of our financial systems.
- Provide specialist advice on accounting standards, accounting policies and legislation on financial reporting and annual reporting relevant to the business needs of Department stakeholders and customers. When collaborating with other teams, the role ensures all parties are fully briefed on proposed business tasks and practices, timelines and expected outcomes. The role is also accountable for ensuring work remains on target, within budget and meets the agreed standards of service delivery. '
- Work collaboratively with team members to produce innovative policies, programs and documentation that guide internal customers in the implementation of effective financial management, in accordance with legislation and related business reforms. Initiatives include developing policies and procedures, implementation guides and briefs, reporting procedures, systems/user documentation.
- Monitor, review and analyse financial systems and databases to generate reports that provide accurate advice and information for staff, customers, management and external agencies.
- Access financial systems to investigate and resolve directorate and customers’ operational issues and to maintain the integrity of corporate databases.
- Champion the use of new and/or updated technology applications, systems, procedures and organisational methods to deliver efficient and effective service in accordance with Department policy and the Directorate’s business practices and protocols. This includes fostering sustainable customer relationships, and working collaboratively with colleagues in Finance and other areas of the Department to gain support for the implementation of finance-related business reforms and to increase staff commitment to service delivery excellence.
- Engage with and contribute to the development of business plans and implementation strategies that enhance the provision of specialist advice and quality service delivery across the Directorate. Actively participating in planning meetings/working parties and contributing ideas consistent with business objectives will facilitate this.
- Provide regular updates to the supervisor regarding progress and achievement of the role’s agreed business targets. Management needs to be alerted to potential or emerging business-critical matters that could adversely impact program/policy implementation and/or service delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Accountant, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
- Proficiency in SAP financial modules, with a demonstrated ability to leverage its functionalities effectively.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
