The Role
Our Financial Management Division (FMD) is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their team for a period of 12 months. This role is responsible for providing a range of accounting services for various business divisions and group companies.
Key responsibilities in the role are:
• Process workflows in SAP system and guide business divisions to ensure accuracy and proper use of the chart of accounts.
• Assist in the clearing of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).
• Process month-end journals including accruals.
• Monthly and Quarterly Process Control Monitoring.
• Assist in ongoing monitoring of debtors/creditors and suspense transactions. Actively follow up with relevant divisions to ensure outstanding transactions are cleared promptly.
• Prepare reconciliations of the foreign currency denominated inter-department current account.
• Prepare year-end statutory financial statements and manage the audit process.
• Conduct credit risk analysis for various business types including sales, purchase, entrust and mark-to-market (derivatives) business within Australia and New Zealand.
• Assist in internal control processes including Business Process Monitoring and Accounts Monitoring.
• Assist in the completion of the audit and JSOX process for MCA.
• Prepare management and other reports with variance analysis.
• Assist with various tax compliance work for Mitsui and its Australian tax consolidated group.
• Understand Mitsui’s corporate rules and processes regarding Ringi applications, FX policy and commodity long/short positions.
The Person
You will enjoy working within a successful team of talented individuals and bring your own proven experience to the business and you have the following qualifications, experience and skills:
• A degree in accounting is essential.
• CPA/CA qualification or part qualification is desirable.
• Ability to coordinate and prioritise work to meet deadlines and be able to work under pressure.
• Written communication skills adequate to draft standard correspondence.
• Ability to analyse numerical data and to identify and explain trends/variances.
• Competent in the use of SAP, Concur, Word and Excel.
• Working knowledge of income tax, GST and FBT.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Confidence to deal effectively with senior managers in advising, rectifying problems and recommending alternative courses of action.
• Sensitivity to other cultures.
• Ability to work within a team.
• Demonstrable experience in a similar role in a corporate environment.
