The Company
The organisation are a small but very stable and supportive Non For Profit organisation with circa 50 employees and offices in inner city Melbourne. They have a friendly team and a track record of retention. The company offer flexible working arrangements so as long as you are happy to come in a few days a week, the rest can be done from home. They are even happy if you want to work reduced hours for this project and we will consider applicants looking to work either 3,4 or 5 days per week.
The Role
This is initially an interim Financial Accountant position and would suit someone with quick availability that is happy to take on a 3-4 month engagement. It's also worth noting that a permanent opportunity may arise if things go well during the initial interim assignment. As mentioned, work from home flexibility is on offer and the role could also be part time in nature if you are unable to work 5 full days.
The purpose of the role is to provide cover and support while the organisation get ready to go to market for a permanent staff member.
Typical duties would involve:
- Monitoring and accounting for new donations, grants and acquittals
- Fixing invoicing issues and look to support with process improvement to streamline this process area
- Transferring and manipulation of excel based data
- Data analytics and general financial analysis
- Support staff with picking up new invoicing processes
- Support with project costing
- Partnering with non-accounting professionals to explain project spend and financials
- Monitor outstanding debts and look to clear up any unallocated or unpaid amounts
- Educate community services team on new processes
- Month end financial reporting and exporting final reports to finance committee
- Checking expense coding
- Potential involvement with budgeting and forecasting
- Ensuring organization are compliant with al relevant Non For Profit and sector related legislation and regulations
- Production of accounting reports for the board and finance committee
This is an interesting and challenging engagement for an Accountant or finance professional who has knowledge across all areas of a finance and accounting function. We are also keen to attract someone with strong prior knowledge of the Non For Profit sector for this opportunity.

Your Profile
We are seeking applications from those who meet the following criteria:
- Qualified Accountant or minimum 5-10 years working as an Accountant for a small-mid sized organisation
- Immediately available and happy with an initial 3-4 month engagement
- Strong prior experience working with a Non For Profit organisation
- Comfortable accessing the inner suburbs/CBD area for training
- Strong communication skills
- Fully vaccinated
