About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Financial Accountant to join our team in Brisbane.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and providing strategic financial insights to assist in informed decision making. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in accounting principles, problem solving skills, and excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to contributing to the success of our society.
The duties consist of but are not limited to: -
- Assist with preparation of the budget
- Implement financial policies and procedures
- Establish and maintain cash controls
- Establish, maintain and reconcile the general ledger
- Prepare and reconcile bank statements
- Establish and maintain supplier accounts
- Processes supplier invoices and attend to any clarifications required.
- Maintain the purchase order system
- Ensure security for all credit cards, verify charges and proper recording of transactions, both computarised and appropriate excel reports.
- Prepare income statements and balance sheets
- Prepare monthly financial statements, quarterly reports and report on variances
- Assist with the annual audit
- Maintain the computerized accounting system, financial files and records
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or similar
- CPA or pursuing CPA will be preferable
- 2-5 years’ experience in finance related roles
- Previous experience in working with Attaché accounting software will be preferable
- Experience with accounting and finance in the south pacific islands
- Well rounded financial/accounting understanding
- In depth knowledge of local taxation & other statutory compliance
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong decision making and prioritising skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
- Effective verbal, listening and written communications skills
- Highly proficient computer skills including the ability to operate computerised accounting, spreadsheet and word processing programs
