The role of the Financial Accountant provides a layer of monitoring and control over our statutory and capital management responsibilities through the completion and resolution of balance sheet reconciliations, capital and project spend monitoring and reporting, cashflow reporting (both actual and forecast) and end of month close procedures.
The role works as part of a Finance team supporting the Financial Accounting Manager to ensure compliance and integrity within our financial reporting responsibilities. It is a varied role, requiring a degree of lateral thinking and problem solving where the ability to work independently to deliver on schedule tasks is critical to your success in the role.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Preparing daily cash flow reports and monthly cash flow forecasts
- Maintaining and accounting for bank guarantees
- Setting up capex projects in the financial ledger and producing reports for the project manager and stakeholders
- Maintaining the lease accounting software module for over 200 carpark leases
- Preparing and posting journals to the general ledger
- Preparing various statutory reporting, included but not limited to: BAS; Payroll tax; Fringe Benefits Tax; Parking levies; Payment Times Reporting and other statistical returns required by the Australian Government.
- Understanding and applying budget / forecasts for the purpose of cash flow forecasting, impairment analysis and assistance with preparing the capex budgeting / forecasting.

- Superior financial, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Ability to produce accurate and timely reports.
- Very good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- High computer literacy, particularly in Excel and main stream general ledger package concepts.
- Ability to manage workflow to achieve results over the cycle.
- A high-level commitment in proving excellent customer and stakeholder service.
- Tertiary qualifications in finance or business-related field of study, accounting are desirable or outstanding performance in a similar role to date, post graduate degree would be advantageous.
