The Financial Accounting Manager exists to ensure compliance obligations, both financial reporting and taxation, are met and advisory services are provided to World Vision Australia. This includes identifying and implementing improvements to enhance Supporter Centricity and efficiency.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accounting Manager role is both challenging and rewarding because it often requires working closely with senior management, providing key financial advice in order to make important business decisions.
The responsibilities of this role are broad and ensure the effective operation of accounting and financial activities. Managing a team of 6 direct reports, a typical day involves:
- morning check-in with team members and providing assistance where necessary
- engaging with business partners, directors and other internal stakeholders by providing Financial Accounting advice (particularly on complex income scenarios)
- interpreting financial policies and reviewing and advising balance sheet reconciliations.
Other key duties include team engagement initiatives, financial year-end, tax return submissions and month end activities, as well as progression of compliance items from internal audits and assurance engagements by external advisors.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong business partnering and stakeholder skills, enabling you to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
You will also have:
- Strong technical competency in accounting standards and taxation law.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximise performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
- Bachelor degree or higher in Accounting or Finance and CA or CPA qualification and full membership with accredited body in Australia.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including an ability to explain financial information to individuals with a non-finance background.
- Proven professional experience as a financial and taxation accountant.
- Provide strong leadership that empowers and foster high achievement within the team
- A strong analytical lens coupled with the ability to investigate and solve complex problems.
