The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
The Finance Analyst is responsible for providing day-to-day assistance and advice on accounting issues and ensuring the availability of appropriate and timely reports to allow for informed decision making.
- Assist in the delivery of monthly financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for the Department.
- Ensure reliable financial data is maintained through appropriate month end adjustments and general ledger journals.
- Contribute to the production of financial and non-financial information in a well presented and easy to read format.
- Develop and implement operational policy and improvements across the Department.
- Develop and maintain networks and relationships across the Department to ensure service delivery.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in Finance and knowledge of FMA and other government related legislations and an understanding of public sector policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability in computer applications preferably in the use of Oracle Financial, MS excel and word. Advanced knowledge of excel with the ability to work on complex worksheets.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills. Ability to prepare reports, letters and emails ensuring they contain relevant information to achieve their purpose.
- Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, use organisational context to ensure positive outcomes are achieved for all parties. Ability to build mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Ability to collaborate and support the manager and the team to achieve team goals. Readily adaptable to changing circumstances and working within tight timelines.
- An appropriate qualification in Accounting, Business, Economics or related fields
