The Opportunity
Portsea Golf Club, encompassing the Mercure Portsea, is a members’ golf club located at the end of the Mornington Peninsula. Reporting to the General Manager, we are seeking a friendly and motivated Financial Controller to join our passionate management team.
Portsea Golf Club is in a period of growth, with increasing member numbers coinciding with investment across each area of the business, providing an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant.
This role would suit a tertiary educated professional who will work closely with the General Manager, Finance Committee, and management, to ensure efficient and compliant financial processes and reporting. The successful candidate will be an active and valued member of the management team.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Work in, and management of, a small administration team.
- Oversight of financial record keeping and reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, office and financial administration.
- A focus on improving and maintaining financial policies & procedures.
- Supporting the provision of a safe and secure working environment, including computer and information technology.
- An appetite for operational efficiencies and implementation of system integrations.
- Contributions to the operation and culture of the Golf Club across departments through active and valued involvement in the management team.
To be successful, you will have:
- Three (3) years’ accounting experience with outstanding financial record keeping and financial management skills.
- Relevant qualifications. You must be tertiary qualified in an Accounting or Finance related area. A CA/CPA status would be highly desirable.
- Computer literacy including knowledge of electronic POS systems and Advanced MS Excel skills.
- The ability to work both independently and within a management team environment.
- A passion for improving financial processes, procedures, and efficiencies.
- The ability to engage with peers to problem solve and contribute to operational strategies.
- Great communication skills and the ability to deliver key tasks accurately and on time.
- Experience with Xero, Protel, Micropower and TANDA will be considered an advantage.
