With Finance playing an increasingly pivotal and critical support function to the organisation, we are looking for an experienced, hands-on and technically strong Financial Controller to join and lead a small but exceptional finance team.
The Role
Reporting to CFO and working in close partnership with executive leadership team across the business, the Financial Controller is responsible for the ‘day-to-day’ financial leadership of the finance function and is a key member of the leadership team.
On a day to day basis, you will be responsible for:
- Provide support and act as a trusted 2IC to the CFO;
- Lead the preparation of monthly Board Reporting, Budgeting, Forecasting, Statutory Financial Statements and Audits.
- Lead the day-to-day finance and fund accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and accounting function for the group of entities. Manage, supervise and junior staff as direct reports.
- Lead (or coordinate) with external providers the lodgements of indirect and direct tax including BAS, FBT, Income Tax and Payroll tax etc.
- Lead or review the monthly balance sheet reconciliations and fixed assets and inter-company reconciliations for the Groups entities.
Lead the monitoring of the Financial Reporting for the AFSL Requirements and calculations. - Responsible for developing the firms Finance Policies, Procedure, and Commercial Agreements within a complex structure.
- Be a trusted Financial Controller to management and executives of the business to support their functions commercial outcomes.
- Contribute into the group’s future accounting and tax structure, transactions.
- Lead an accounting package software transformation project to enable the business to scale for growth, transacting and timely reporting to stakeholders via dashboards.
- Process improvement and systems projects, other projections and ad hoc tasks, as required.
Ideally CA / CPA qualified, you will have demonstrated extensive experience in a leadership and financial control. You have strong attention to detail and have the ability to motivate and lead the finance department, effectively creating a business partnering environment to assist in commercial decision-making. You will be hands on in nature and your excellent interpersonal and communication skills give you the confidence to engage and influence those above and below you and across the organisation. You have strong commitment to ongoing personal development and improvement of processes, and aspire to value-add in your next long-term career step.
