We have two opportunities to join the Fire Safety team:

  • Fixed Term to 16-Sep-2024
  • Permanent 

The Fire Safety Officer undertakes delivery of a range of regulatory services, approval and assessment processes to ensure that land and buildings meet the Fire Safety obligations of FRV. This includes partnering with the local community groups and representing FRV in undertaking building and site inspections, reviewing and assessing applications for land use planning applications, building and occupancy permits, providing technical advice and input into related Fire Safety community matters and contributing to the development of Fire Safety policy.

What you will need to Succeed

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification or experience in Land Use Planning/Bushfire Management Overlay requirements and procedures would be an advantage;
  • Demonstrated Fire Safety experience or equivalent tertiary qualifications would be an advantage;
  • Proven structural environment experience with particular emphasis in the Fire Safety area;
  • Experience and/or understanding of operational firefighting would be an advantage;
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge of and experience in, the application of the building and planning legislation and its relevance to FRV;
  • An understanding of hazardous materials, bushfire and structural fire behaviour.

FRV’s standard practice is to appoint at the advertised salary level.

FRV’s standard practice is to appoint at the base of the salary range, however consideration will be given to an above base salary within the advertised range based on the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
