About the Division / Team
The Major Construction Projects division of ARTC is responsible for designing, constructing and commissioning all new major projects, including Inland Rail in Victoria. These projects range from track and junction upgrades and capacity improvements through to construction of new railway lines.
Current projects include:
- Northeast Rail Line (VIC)
- Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 1 (VIC)
- Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 (VIC)
- Gladstone Siding Upgrade Project (SA)
- Torrens Rail Junction Project & Vulcanised Indian Rubber Cable Replacement (SA)
About the Opportunity
This position involves the implementation of safety strategies, systems, and initiatives, with a primary emphasis on embedding safety as an integral and consistent aspect of ARTC's core values within the workplace. The objective is to foster a culture of vigilance, accountability, ownership, awareness, and safety leadership throughout the organisation by collaborating effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
The responsibilities encompass safety assurance activities, which entail hazard identification, risk assessments, and providing safety recommendations to delivery teams through coaching and mentoring. Additionally, this role involves undertaking various in-field safety assurance activities to ensure that safety standards and contractual requirements are consistently met.
Travel to regional Victoria will be an ongoing requirement of this position.
- Ensure the effective implementation of ARTC Safety Management Systems
- Support the project teams to create a healthy safety culture that ensures our people and contractors go home safely every day
- Undertake and participate in assurance activities and inspections, including the undertaking of worksite protection plan reviews
- Review of contractor safety documentation to ensure compliance with ARTC safety requirements
- Assist and/or conduct incident investigations in accordance with the ICAM methodology
- Participate and/or lead safety risk workshops
- Drive the implementation of ARTC corporate safety initiatives and programs
About You
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Certificate IV OHS or WHS Diploma
- Experience in a relevant rail industry discipline
- ICAM training and experience
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and a clear understanding of general safety systems
- Understanding of safety management systems
- High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate with and influence others
- Self-motivated
Desirable
- 4 Years' experience in Rail/Construction or related field
- Cert IV training and assessment
- Lead Auditor Qualifications
- IT Skills intermediate
