About the Role
As a Fitment Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, safety, and reliability of Rhino-Rack products and accessories. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and implement fitments that enhances the overall experience for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product development teams to design and develop fitments for Rhino-Rack products, ensuring compatibility with various products and models.
- Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives with key stakeholders to optimise fitment and product performance.
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to integrate fitment considerations into the overall product development process.
- Provide technical expertise and insights to support the development of innovative adventure and travel products.
- Plan Fitment and vehicle data acquisition activities.
- Plan and prepare for fitment activities.
- Perform vehicle fitments.
- 3D scan vehicles and components
- Analyse new vehicles for fitment compatibility and strategies
- Remove trims and other vehicle components and document the process.
- Capture & document fitment information.
- Organise workshop/fitment bays, keep areas tidy, and maintain stock of consumables.
- Collaborate with the technical writing team to improve end user experience.
- Coordinate vehicle fitments with vehicle fitment category manager.
- Build relationships with vehicle supply network (dealers, etc).
- Provide occasional technical support for business training activities, and fitment assistance for marketing activities.
Key Competencies:
- Strong engineering background with a focus on mechanical systems.
- Familiar with CAD software (SolidWorks).
- Ability to identify and resolve fitment-related challenges with creative and effective solutions.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Passion for outdoor activities and adventure travel.
- Understanding of the unique challenges and demands of adventure and travel gear.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and vendors.
- Commitment to ensuring the highest quality and safety standards in fitment design.
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and industry trends.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Fitment Engineer or similar role, preferably within the automotive or outdoor gear industry.
- Experience in planning and preparing work to a schedule.
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems and construction.
- Experience with CAD software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
- Driver’s licence.
Nice to Have:
- Fabrication and welding skills.
- Experience working on vehicles and trim removal.
- Experience with 3D Scanning.
