Job description

Join our team of highly regarded Paramedics that provide health care services to rural and remote sites. RFDS WA are seeking experienced Flight Paramedics to work on a rotary medevac service based in Darwin for an oil and gas exploration contract. These roles will be either on a FIFO arrangement or based in Darwin. 

We require suitable qualified paramedics with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Flight operations
  • Medivac operations
  • Tactical medicine
  • Disaster management 
  • Critical care / intensive care

You will need to be available to commence on the 1 May 2024, with training to commence in Mid-April. The contract will be initially for 10 months with the possibility of extension. 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide initial emergency response, stabilisation, and transportation/ medevac of critically ill or injured patients.
  • Provide primary health care, treatment and transport of non-emergency medical conditions.
  • Participate in Aeromedical Crew education, training, and procedure development.
  • General base administration management and reporting duties.
  • Integrate professionally with other emergency services providers if required.
  • Maintain an excellent level of personal knowledge, skills and attributes to deliver the highest level of patient-centred care possible. 
  • Actively contribute to the positive and constructive Industrial Health Team culture.
  • Adhere to RFDS WO governance and practices.

Essential requirements 

  • Current AHPRA Registration (Unrestricted).
  • Valid ASIC or able to attain one.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience and relevant qualifications in one of the following areas Flight operations, Medivac operations, Tactical medicine, Disaster management and Critical care / intensive care
  • Minimum 5 years of pre-hospital experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or equivalent. 
  • Advanced Life (Level 2)/Cardiac Support (ALS2 or ACLS) Certification or equivalent.
  • Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST) or equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills for operational duties.
  • Previous experience in the provision of general primary healthcare in a non-hospital environment in a remote/austere environment.
  • A well-developed knowledge of, and experience in the application of Emergency Response Services within the resource, defence or equivalent environment.
  • Able to meet the requirements of a fitness for work assessment

Desirable 

  • Currency in TBOSIET.
