The Role
Assist the team in continuing to deliver a high level of service to our respected clients and the community as an all-important Flood Modeller. The company is seeking a person who is passionate about improving flood management in a changing climate. We would love applications from people who are interested in helping to shape the future of flood modelling as technology changes.
We undertake a lot of flood modelling and are involved in forward thinking projects that seek to improve urban greening, cooling, connectivity and aesthetics while simultaneously having a positive impact on flooding. These are some of the high profile and highly impactful projects that you will be directly working on, along with modelling for other clients ranging from local government to private industry.
This is a unique opportunity to join a small but mighty and respected team, to make a big impact in the flood space.
Ideally, the role will be full-time, and will be based remotely (work from home), with opportunity to occasionally work from a shared working space. Part-time can be negotiated if desired, depending on experience level. Candidate can be based remotely.
Key responsibilities of the role include, but not limited to:
- Flood modelling
- Mentoring, development and potential line management of junior engineers and scientists.
- Desirable - ability to execute models such as MUSIC, RORB and other modelling as required, water balances and spreadsheet calculations.
- Desirable - End to end project management, including but not limited to, scoping out project, preparing accurate costings/budget, creating client proposals, problem solving, and drafting reports for Director approval.
- Desirable - End to end client management, including but not limited to, initial client meeting to understand project needs, providing project updates, follow ups when required and overall client relationship building.
- State and national travel trips on occasion (typically sub 1-3 days, once or twice per year).
- Opportunity to be involved in a range of water related services, depending on interest level (technical through to strategic and training)
To secure the role, we are looking for:
- Ability to execute TUFLOW modelling (~2++ years' experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or relevant science degree.
- Engineers Australia National Engineering Registry (NER) is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver technical results for our clients.
- Desire to mentor and develop junior staff.
- Knowledge of the legislation and regulatory requirements that applies to your work.
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word & Outlook).
