With flexible working arrangements on offer, this role is an ideal role for a self-managed individual ready to “make the difference”.What do my days look like?
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) (FOI Act) requests and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) enquiries and all related regulations, standards and codes.
  • Act as Airservices' primary decision maker under the FOI Act and related regulations, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Act as Airservices' Privacy Officer, handling enquiries, complaints, and requests for access or correction of personal information.
  • Manage data incidents and breaches, coordinating responses and ensuring compliance with the Privacy Act.
  • Advise on privacy threshold and impact assessments and integrate privacy considerations into procurement processes and daily operations.
  • Support Airservices in responding to audits and implementing recommendations to enhance FOI and privacy practices.
  • Cultivate a culture of compliance and privacy awareness, promoting proactive engagement across all levels of the organization.
  • Design, implement, and improve training, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with FOI and Privacy legislation.
  • Integrate FOI and privacy policies into Airservices' Risk Management and Assurance frameworks.
Please see the link below to view the full Position Description:The PersonYou must have demonstrated ability to act with integrity and independence as a statutory decision-maker with experience in the design and delivery of training in relation to FOI and privacy, to build staff capability and organisational maturity in these areas, and a demonstrated commitment to implement continuous improvement. You will be responsible for maintain and developing a positive working relationships with all stakeholders including General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel and Airservices' Privacy Champion.The successful applicant will have:
  • Minimum six years' experience as an FOI Officer and Privacy Officer or equivalent role.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Privacy Act, FOI Act, and related regulations.
  • Familiarity with case law and guidance materials from relevant authorities.
  • Ability to lead responses to data incidents and draft correspondence and reports.
  • Understanding of organizational operations and strategic priorities.
  • Experience in delivering training and driving continuous improvement.
