Client is public sector authority based in Brisbane’s southern suburbs. This specific role is in the corporate governance department, who provide specialist advice, governance, process management and best practise support to the rest of the organisation especially in the management of information, privacy, risk management and compliance. They are looking to engage a Senior Officer to help with the transparent management of information and privacy matters across the organisation.
Your new role
The role plays key function in the management of information and is expected to have specialist expertise in the areas of Information Management and privacy compliance to help make sure the organisation meets its legislative and community obligations.
The role has a reactive function; akin to inhouse specialist providing advice to other areas of the organisation when called upon. There is also an expectation the role is proactive to engage internal stakeholders to educate staff members about current and upcoming changes to the requirements and individual responsibilities of staff and leaders within the organisation.
The incumbent may also be asked to carry out investigations of breaches or suspected breaches of the legislation.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate would have tertiary qualification in appropriate area – law, governance, Information Management, risk, compliance and as well as having substantial knowledge and expertise of strategic Information Management, and privacy legislation as well as the underlying principles and practises and associated management frameworks.
Ideally that experience would be in similar local or state government organisation, but not essential.
Candidates would need technical skills to be able to quickly interpret and implement any new complex administration and integrity legislation so organisation can stay ahead of the game. The role also has a strong general skill component too, needing high quality communication and stakeholders skills with requirements to able to engage with senior leadership on sensitive issues, remaining impartial and being able to deliver effective, concise, integrated, and credible options.

Initially a contract role until eofy with possible extensions. Hourly rate is $65.77 ph. Possibility of some flexibility for particularly well qualified candidates with well suited experience.
