Food & Beverage Attendants: Entry Level To Management

Our venue, Village Glen, is located in Capel Sound, on the Mornington Peninsula. We have two cafes and a number of function spaces. Our Clubhouse Cafe overlooks our 9 hole golf course, and CJ's Cafe is centred in our residents lounge adjoining the Palms Function and Event space. For those wondering where our Clubhouse and CJ's businesses align, it would be best to think of us as operating similarly to a golf club or a private resort.

We are currently seeking waiting staff, at both Entry level and Managementlevel to join our Catering Team. We have our Cafe and Events Manager, and a number of full time, part time and casual waiting staff covering Café shifts over the 7 days. The successful candidates will be hands on each day in the Cafés or in the function spaces. The positions available can be fulltime, casual and/or permanent part time. The Management level position is that of Assistant Cafe & Events Manager and is a Full/Permanent Part time position.

Clubhouse Café: What to expect.

Our Clubhouse Café is a beautiful, glass-walled building overlooking our golf course and the wetlands. It opens from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm Monday to Saturday and 10.00 am to 2.30 pm on Sundays. The clientele is the over 55’s who live in our Village. The Village itself has over 600 homes in it. It is really a small suburb! The Café clientele are all regulars and is open to all residents and their guests including children. The Café is well equipped and recently refurbished. We hold small events in the Café as well. CJ's Cafe is based in the hub of Village Glen activity. It opens Mondday to Friday at the moment but we will look to develop this in the coming year. Our principal function and Events venue is located adjacent to the Café in a new complex.

The position/s available: Hours and duties.

These are important positions and are central to our catering operation. 

The key elements of these positions are:

• Full time, Permanent part time or Casual (Shifts from10 to 30 hours per week)
• Flexible roster
• Family friendly workplace

Again, The positions can be Full/Part time or Casual. At the moment, we are envisioning the following scope of work hours to select shifts from:

Monday to Sunday: 9.00 am to 3.30 pm in the Clubhouse Cafe

Monday to Friday: 9.00 am to 3.00 pm in the Clubhouse Cafe

Thursday: 3.00 pm - 9.00 pm (Dining Room )

Friday: 3.00 pm - 8.00 pm (Dining Room)

Monday to Sunday: Function Work (Various times)

We are flexible as we want to get the right people for the positions.

• Note: We are flexible on the days. The key to all of it is that we run 7 days a week and have 2 Cafés and a number of function spaces and we roster Front of House staff by looking at our needs and also looking at what our staff are wanting to do..
• We need people who are hospitable first and foremost. Then, we are looking for those people to acquire/develop good service skills.
• The positions are a hands-on positions in the Cafés and in the dining room. 
• You will be reporting directly to the Café and Events Manager. 

What sort of person will you be?

Ideally you are self-motivated with a positive outlook and a strong work ethic. You would possess the ability to lead by example, when working alongside other team members. You are capable of both following and giving clear directions in either a calm or a busy environment. You will be able to develop a strong cooperative culture. You will be an hospitable person with or without hospitality experience.  

We will train you to use our systems where they differ from those you are familiar with. We will also provide supplementary training where necessary.
