About us

At Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), we develop world-leading standards to ensure a safe food supply for Australia and New Zealand. We do so by maintaining an effective, transparent and accountable regulatory framework. Our work includes analytical and behavioural research, the development of industry standards, food incident response, education and public awareness, and corporate services. This work is essential for protecting consumers and dealing with the challenges of a globalised and rapidly evolving food sector. FSANZ is a small agency with a specialised workforce. Qualifications & experience

  • To be eligible you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen at the time of applying.
  • Desirable Experience in the food regulatory system. Experience working with databases.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • The duties of this position include:
  • Undertaking day to day incident response and food recall activities, including managing incident/recall email inboxes, undertaking project work, and responding to enquires.
  • Engaging with stakeholders on food incident and food recall activities, including coordinating international notifications as required.
  • Supporting the coordination of response activities under the National Food Incident Response Protocol, including providing secretariat support.
  • Coordinating national food recalls in Australia, and maintaining procedural guidelines, team SharePoint sites, after-hours rosters and timesheets, public webpages and data/records management systems.
  • Providing secretariat support to various meetings, including drafting agendas, papers and minutes.
  • Providing input into the preparation of papers and reports on food incidents and food recalls for FSANZ and other government agencies, industry stakeholders and Ministers.
  • Some out of hours work to coordinate national food recalls.
