The Role
As a key member of the Production Team, this role is pivotal in ensuring fruit on the packing line is consistent and high in quality.
The Grader Operator provides a hands-on approach to quality control and you will be responsible for the daily operation and reporting of the electronic vision grading system (the camera), fitted to our MAF-Roda grader. The vision grading system comprises multiple sensors and cameras which photograph and assess each piece of fruit for size and quality grade, ensuring that each piece is directed to the correct packing station.
As part of the core duties, you will develop an understanding of the entire packing process, including line grades and pack out requirements.
You will:
• lead by example in workplace safety and hygiene
• follow the daily start up procedures to ensure the packing line is ready to start on time.
• monitor the camera, respond and adjust the computerised settings as needed
• have the freedom to explore the camera settings and in conjunction with the Production Coordinator, develop framework for each variety and/or quality challenge as needed.
• perform routine fault finding & maintenance on all sections of the packing line
• participate in production planning & routine quality inspections
• ensure chemical applications are documented and accurate
• assist with other tasks such as record keeping, quality control, despatch or packing functions as directed by the team Coordinators.
This is a fast paced, physically active role that requires attention to detail and consistent monitoring of machinery and programs throughout each shift.
