Your new role
- Routinely inspect and maintain Councils roads assets.
- Routinely inspect and maintain roads infrastructure systems to minimise potential of flooding to protect property and assets.
- Ensure grading works are undertaken in an efficient and effective manner having regard for quality, safety, and environmental aspects.
- Undertake grading works in accordance with agreed programs and within agreed time frames.
- Supervision of construction crews, on site
- Safely, and lawfully operate heavy plant and specialised machinery, to carry out infrastructure repairs and maintenance, shifting material for road works and civil projects.
- Maintain site safety on all civil infrastructure works, implementing and following all safety controls for traffic management, pedestrians’ access, in commercial and residential settings.
- Undertake construction and maintenance works on infrastructure assets, Council properties, and civil worksites.
- Complete and maintain good record keeping and documentation for graded road maintenance, including but not limited to: activities undertaken and maintenance of assigned plant and equipment.
What you'll need to succeed
- Several years’ experience in the operations of a motor grader.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of a wide variety of heavy plant and specialist equipment.
- Formal trade qualification in civil pipe laying and/or, civil construction.
- Demonstrated competency in the use of minor plant and equipment, including safe operation and maintenance of chainsaws, polesaws, and smaller motorised equipment.
- Currently hold, or willing to obtain a Construction Induction Card.
- Currently hold, or willing to obtain a Traffic Control ticket.
- Currently hold, or willing to obtain Heavy Rigid/ Combination licence
- Hold current tickets that are required from time to time to perform all the duties of the position
