We're a small team of 5+, headquartered in Melbourne, with remote team members across Canada, Jamaica, Ireland, and beyond.About the role:As a Front-End Developer for Switch Themes, you will have the opportunity to work on our suite of not-so-average themes for not-so-average brands. We're focused on creating innovative, fun and stylish themes that cater to the types of merchants we love - those who don't want to be boring.RequirementsResponsibilities
- Develop code for our premium Shopify themes
- Implement Shopify's mandatory feature updates
- Introduce new features to our themes
- Squash bugs and ensure our Github issues across our themes are down to 0
- Work on maintaining our themes and always bringing in new standards and development patterns for our themes to have more efficient/functional code
- Work and collaborate with our other developers, product manager and support teams
- Assist with tooling and workflows outside of theme development (Marketing website, documentation website, Github actions etc)
- Take initiative to follow wireframes / designs and apply beyond what is provided
- Test upcoming theme releases and review Github pull requests from other team members
- Learn and apply new technologies and techniques to bring into our themes, as well as constantly seek new ways to improve our development processes and practices
- Expert experience with building Shopify Themes and Shopify’s liquid templating language
- Expert knowledge in the Shopify platform and Shopify Themes
- Understand all requirements for Shopify Themes to be listed on the theme store
- Strong web development skills (HTML, CSS and Javascript)
- Experience with build tools
- Strong Javascript skills (Vanilla JS)
- Experience with version control and Git
- Understanding of UX/UI design principles and their application in e-commerce.
- Understanding of semantic web standards and web accessibility
