Job title: FT Occupational Therapist - Disability & Aged Care - Above Award Pay
Salary: A generous base salary + super + travel reimbursement
Location: West Melbourne
Roles & Responsibilities
The Occupational therapist will provide a range of supports and services to enable effective participation (of the NDIS Participants and Aged Care consumers) in the occupations of everyday life, including:
Activities of daily living: Showering, toileting, dressing, grooming, food preparation and eating
Supported Independent Living assessments: Preparing assessments to outline readiness and assist applications for SIL.
Household and community functioning: Home maintenance, driving, budgeting, shopping, and community mobility.
Education: Activities which allow a person to participate effectively in a learning environment
Leisure and play: Reading, knitting, and playing sport
Social participation: Interacting positively with others in the community
Work: Participating in employment and volunteer activities
Assess and recommend assistive technology/environmental modifications
Comply with legal and certification requirements at all times
Desire Experience & Skills
Current AHPRA Registration and experience appropriate to each registration group:
Home Modifications?Experience & understanding of concepts & limitations of AS 1428 & other disability access standards & their application in accordance with a person’s needs & specifications of plans
Customised Prosthetics?Experience relevant to the specific customised technology
Therapeutic Supports?Experience in the profession and evidence of involvement in clinical supervision and professional development
Can assess and document the limitations caused either by injury or illness, psychological or emotional difficulties, and developmental delay or the effects of aging on the participant/consumer.
Can develop strategies and provide input to care plans to address and or mitigate the identified limitations of the participant/consumer.
Can identify appropriate consumables, home modifications, and or assistive technology to assist the participant/consumer with managing their limitations.
Can provide SIL assessments if required.
Can report on progress of enacted strategies to mitigate participant’s/ consumer’s limitations.
Can provide reviews to amend strategies, approaches and actions to address any changes in limitations or conditions.
Willing to participate in ongoing self-development. On-line courses and in person.
Willing to participate in staff performance reviews to identify how we can assist you.
Will behave in a professional manner at all times, and respect the NDIS Quality Standards, Aged Care Quality and Safety Standards and support the participant’s and consumers rights, dignity and independence.
Experience of working with people living with disability.
2+ years’ experience in a similar role (Preferably with NDIS participants)
