About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. As an Apprentice Chef at the Phillip Island RSL, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills, work with experienced chefs, and contribute to creating memorable dishes for our members and guests.
You will:
• Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes under the guidance of senior chefs.
• Learn and execute culinary techniques, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Participate in menu planning and development, contributing innovative ideas.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient operations during service.
• Receive and store kitchen supplies, ensuring proper stock rotation.
• Engage in continuous learning and development to advance your culinary skills.
The Candidate:
• Passionate about a career in cookery.
• Actively engaged in or seeking an apprenticeship and a qualification in commercial cookery.
• Understands that being a chef more than a job, it’s a way of life.
• Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.
• Able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to multitask.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Able to be a team player and assist in other roles in the kitchen, such as kitchen hand, when needed.
