Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our busy team. Our ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy commercial kitchen, with a strong understanding of Turkish cuisine and flavours. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of traditional Turkish dishes from our current menu and daily specials, including shish kebabs, shish tavuk, gozleme, saksuka, mercimek kofte, imam bayildi, adana, sebze dolma, manti, lahmacun, kuru baklava, kadayif and others
- Plan menus and create newly inspired Turkish dishes, including dishes for the specials board using in-season produce.
- Prepare dishes according to customer’s dietary requirements
- Prepare budget for food and labour costs.
- Select, oversee, and train kitchen staff in preparing a wide variety Turkish dishes
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, food quality and presentation throughout all stages of preparation
- Place daily orders to suppliers
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- At least 3 years relevant work experience and/or relevant qualifications (Diploma)
- Previous experience working as a Chef preferably in a Turkish or Mediterranean cuisine restaurant preferred
- Solid understanding of Turkish cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavours
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a team environment
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
