Salary: $70,000.00 to $76,000.00 plus superannuation per annum

Robinson Painting & Decorating is seeking an experienced Painter to join their team
located in Moolap and surrounds.
Tasks required include:
• Remove fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, or electric switch covers
• Erect scaffolding, cradles and ladders and place drop sheets to protect areas from
dripping paint
• Remove old paint or paper by sanding or scraping or by using blowtorches or liquid
paint removers and, when removing old paper, by using steam strippers
• Prepare surfaces by fixing woodwork, filling or sealing holes, cracks and joins and
washing them down to remove dust and grease. Fill holes and cracks with caulk,
putty, plaster, or other compounds.
• Apply primers or sealers so the paint will adhere
• Select and prepare paints to match colours by the addition of tints
• Apply paints, stains and varnishes on surfaces using brushed and rollers.
• When wallpapering, set out the area according to the pattern match and starting point
in the room, cut the paper to the appropriate length, apply paste to the back of each
strip and hang the paper on the wall, smoothing out any wrinkles or bubbles
• Apply decorative paint finishes such as stencils, colour glaze, graining, marbling and
lettering
• Interpreting the information and specifications on drawings and construction plans.
• Studying plans and examining surface to be covered to determine amount of material
needed. Undertaking mathematical calculations to compute areas, and quantity of
material required
• Preparing cost and labour estimates based on calculations of time and materials
needed for project
• Loading & setting out the site with materials
• Following safety practices and requirements to comply with in the trade.
• Using various hand and power tools correctly and safely.
Requirements:
• Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV in
Painting and Decorating
• At least 2 years prior experience as a Painter
• Have the knowledge & capabilities to assess the correct type & order of preparation
& application of coating materials for any one job
• Have the knowledge & capabilities to carry out preparation work
• Have the knowledge & skill to carry out painting in all applications
• Be able to complete the works to the satisfactory standard required as per job order
within the specified time frame
• Be able to provide a satisfactory standard of work which meets the industry
standards & guidelines
• Be able to make daily progress reports to management, work on several projects at
any one time and travel to multiple different locations/job sites.
