About CatholicCare NT and the Program

CatholicCare NT is a Catholic social service agency established in the Diocese of Darwin. We provide services throughout the NT, including service centres in Darwin, Palmerston, Malak, Tiwi Islands, Daly River, Wadeye, Jabiru, Maningrida, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Santa Teresa, Titjikala, Finke and APY lands.

“Gambling and My Community” is a pilot project created to raise awareness and reduce the incidence and severity of gambling harm experienced by Territorians living across urban, regional and remote settings. It is a primary prevention project underpinned by community development, harm minimisation and public health frameworks. The project is multi-pronged with four streams of focus: community education, community development, organizational and workforce development, and evaluation.

The project extends over three years to enable service development, community engagement, workforce development, communications development, launch and initial evaluation. Each year will build upon the former, laying the foundations for longer-term and sustainable NT service. The project will focus on Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Tiwi and Wadeye.

About the role

The Project Coordinator is responsible for leading the project, developing and implementing strategies to achieve its objectives. The primary focus is on stakeholder engagement, effective project plan implementation, and the development of an evaluation framework. This role is being offered at a SCHADS Award Grade 6 - $119,238 TRP (including salary $106,135) up to SCHADS Award Grade 7 - $128,962.15 TRP (including salary (114,790) based on skills and experience.

What we are looking for

  • Relevant qualifications in Public Health, Social Work, Community Development or related field with substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Significant experience in project management, program development and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of evaluation methodologies.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of key partners, stakeholders, community groups and organisations, particularly with Aboriginal people and communities, and working in partnership with them to achieve community goals.
  • Knowledge and expertise in designing and implementing workforce development initiatives within the social and community sector, especially for Indigenous communities. (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of gambling-related issues and the social and psychological factors that contribute to gambling harm.(Desirable)
