The Bethanie Group is the largest not for profit provider of aged care services and retirement villages in Western Australia, providing over 60 years of professional care services between Geraldton and Bunbury. With a company size of around 1800 people across 24 locations, we are a diverse and complex business.
We currently have an opportunity for a Handyperson/Gardener to fill an integral part of the team at 3 villages. They are Geneff, (Innaloo), Warwick and Beachside (Yanchep).
The Handyperson/Gardener is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team who is responsible for carrying out general maintenance to building, plant and equipment as schedule by and on behalf of The Bethanie Group in accordance with all relevant legislation and licensing requirements including gardening and lawn care. Provide maintenance advice, and assistance to site village staff as required, while assisting staff to meet the Australian Retirement Living Accreditation Standards (ARVAS).
This is a permanent full-time role working across 3 different villages. This consist of 3 days at Geneff (Innaloo0, 1 day at Warwick and 1 day at Beachside (Yanchep). The hourly rate is $30.
To be successful in this role you will have the following attributes:
- Have a broad range of general maintenance skills, across both building and equipment
- Respond quickly and effectively to maintenance requests
- Have previous experience managing planned and reactive tasks
- Maintain adequate records of all maintenance performed
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition
- Takes initiative and has a ‘can do’ attitude
- Experience in general property maintenance
- Experience in gardening and landscaping
- Current A-class drivers’ licence
- Previous experience in an Aged Care facility – desirable
- Current Covid and Flu Vaccinations are required – 3 x Covid Vaccinations
- Ability to communicate with staff and care recipients
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as to work independently
- Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health requirements
- Literacy and numeracy skills appropriate to perform the role
- Basic computer skills.
