About the job:
We are seeking a GCP Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. You will have the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with our prestigious clients and contribute to their success.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, deploy and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes on the Google Cloud Platform using services such as Dataflow (or Apache Beam), dbt and Airflow.
- Optimise and tune data processing workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Maintain code repositories using continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes and technologies.
- Implement data governance and security best practices to ensure compliance and data integrity.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to enable seamless access to structured and unstructured data for analytics and reporting.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Stay informed of industry trends and emerging technologies, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer with 2+ years of expertise in building and maintaining data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
- In-depth knowledge of GCP services including BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Cloud Storage.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data warehousing, and data modelling concepts.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Git Repository (i.e., BitBucket), CI/CD tools (i.e., Bamboo), Jira/Confluence is preferred.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred
