The Opportunity
This is a Greenfield General Counsel role and a member of the Executive Team, reporting directly to the CEO.

Your Responsibilities
- Leadership: Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, advising the board on legal and governance issues.
- Advisory: Provide strategic legal advice on operational issues including contract law, IP management, workplace relations, OH&S, procurement, privacy, and dispute resolution, ensuring compliance with evolving standards.
- Legal Compliance: Develop and implement company policies and compliance programs.
- Commercial & Corporate Transactions: Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements; assist with mergers and acquisitions.
- External Counsel Management: Oversee and manage external legal services.
- Training & Risk Management: Educate employees on legal matters and implement systems to mitigate legal risk.
About You
- Minimum 10 years of post-graduate experience in commercial and corporate law, preferably in-house within construction or related industries.
- Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and an Australian practising certificate (or eligibility).
- Strong understanding of Australian legal frameworks, including contract law, procurement, employment law, privacy law, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience establishing a legal function (ideally) and managing complex legal projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities, and delivering practical legal advice on a wide range of issues.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with proven stakeholder management abilities.
- High professional ethics, integrity, and the ability to express professional opinions.
- Team player with a hands-on, agile, and can-do attitude.
