The Position
The City’s Streetscapes team is looking for a General Hand to conduct Arboriculture maintenance to trees and streetscapes within the City of Cockburn.
The successful applicant will be self-motivated, able to demonstrate a strong work ethic, and have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Our Streetscapes team boasts well maintained and modern equipment, valuing safety as integral to its success. Applicants will be required to demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices in all daily duties.
Working under the general direction of the Arboriculture Leading Hand and Urban Forest Supervisor, day to day duties will include (not limited to); tree pruning, tree removal, tree planting, waste removal and a very small component of the role herbicide spraying.
Other requirements of the position include:
- Experience working in Arboriculture, tree pruning or experience working in a similar operational environment.
- Certificate II Arboriculture (desirable).
- MR Drivers Licence.
- Construction Safety Card (White card).
- Chainsaw operation ticket (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to safely operate mechanical plant and hand tools in accordance with manufactures guidelines.
- Ability to follow direction and work under general supervision.
- Demonstrate ability to interact with other employees and work in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and show understanding of OS&H practices as they relate to the work you are doing.
Hourly rate: $34.06 - $35.55 per hour, depending on level of experience and qualifications.
Hours: 5:45 am – 3:00 pm (includes 15 mins daily overtime paid at time and a half)
