General Manager
Urban Building Solutions Pty Ltd (UBS) is a growing company within the building insurance industry. Having a large portfolio of national clients within insurance and strata, we are regarded as one of the most prominent insurance building service providers in New South Wales. With 40 staff, a new head office in Summer Hill and a regional office in Mayfield East Newcastle, UBS operates in Batemans Bay, Goulburn, Sydney Metro through to Newcastle, Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay. UBS is in the process of expanding further into the ACT and SE Queensland in the six months.
Due to our continual growth and future expansion, we are seeking an experienced General Manager to join and assist leading our team in Sydney. In this role you will be an integral member of the UBS team reporting directly to the Managing Director. There is an opportunity for an immediate start however we are prepared to wait for the right person to join us.
The role will require you to work closely with our Department Managers to ensure the best possible outcome for our clients, customers and suppliers. A hands on management style would be required to lead all facets of the business. We operate a friendly work environment where hard work is rewarded, and flexibility reciprocated.
Expectations of the role:
- Providing leadership by managing the day-to-day operations of the company – working with all Department Managers such as Operations, Estimating, Accounts, Administration, Safety, HR and Marketing
- Upskilling Department Managers improving performance and efficiencies of our existing team.
- Mentoring and fostering a positive team culture creating a supportive working environment.
- Working collaboratively with Department Managers to ensure all staff are meeting individual and company KPIs.
- Monitor and report on company performance and identify areas to improve – providing solution-based ideas.
- Assist with onboarding and off boarding as well as staff performance reviews.
- Assist with planning, implementation and improvement of internal processes and systems that will improve performance, add value and enable company growth.
- Foster and network with industry stakeholders to positively promote the company.

Experience & Knowledge:
- Minimum 5 years proven experience in a General Manager role for a similar size company
- Proven strong leadership with a hands on approach
- Critical thinker, hardworking, driven with a passion to succeed.
- Excellent listening skills with the ability to positively motivate others.
- Excellent relationship management & communication skills, both written and verbal
- A highly organised approach with attention to detail
