About the Role
The General Manager Finance Northern is an integral member of the Northern Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for taking the business through market changes, providing governance acumen as well as bringing a proven wealth of financial controllership to the team. The role is a part of the broader financial JBS Australia and JBS Global team, working in full collaboration to benchmark and capture all viable synergies between the businesses in Australia and globally.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Partner with the team to design and review the short and long-term strategy for the business, setting clear, challenging and achievable targets to drive continuous improvement
- Provide analytical support to the COO and leadership team for strategic decisions by performing feasibility analysis of all major proposed projects or financial spend
- Business partner to the Buy, Make & Sell teams, providing support and challenging on all matters relating to the business performance and financial processes
- Manage the Northern Business finance and accounting teams to support and supervise the processing and feedlot sites (including SOX compliance)
- Prepare and manage Northern division budgeting and forecasting within deadlines and defined KPIs
- Analyse standard to actual cost variances; identify challenges and opportunities and recommend corrective actions as indicated by performance to meet cost performance targets
- Review and approval of journals and general ledger reconciliations across all production sites
- Oversee Plant Accountants to ensure all areas of responsibility are completed timely and accurately
- Monitor inventory control at sites
- Manage queries from management regarding proper accounting for all aspects of business operations
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of weekly results/reports, monthly and quarterly results/reports in line with group accounting policy and applicable accounting standards
- Work with the Buy, Make & Sell teams to achieve Operational Excellence through the use of proven methodologies
- Proactive respond to variances between weekly and monthly results and between weekly forecast and weekly actual results
- Provide recommendations for process improvements, provide feedback on and review processes and controls prior to site roll out
- Be the catalyst of process changes and recommend best process and controls for the business
- Provide sites with changes to supply agreements that will affect their operating costs and ensure standards are updated
- Respond to plant managers/corporate accounting/senior management queries promptly and professionally
- Perform feasibility analysis for CAPEX Projects, Monitor AFE project completion and asset capitalisation, as completed by sites
- Quarter end data compiling/consolidation for financial audit requests
- Provide financial support to the Sales & Operations planning process to ensure effective and profitable business decisions
- Continuous management of working capital requirements to maximize the free cash flow generation of the business
About You
- Extensive experience in a similar finance leadership role (ideally 10+ years finance / 5+ years senior leadership experience)
- Strong leadership skills to challenge decisions, effectively coach and develop a team, drive excellence
- Strong management accounting background with a demonstrated ability to quickly resolve issues
- Alibility to identify basic cause and effect relationships with strong analytical skills
- Alibility to respond calmly in difficult situations maintaining a strong customer service focus
- Excellent and proven experience in streamlining process and introducing controls behind the balance sheet numbers
- Must possess strong working knowledge of accounting principles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of management
- Comfortable presenting budgets and periodic results to senior team
- Ability to work as a team player and in full collaboration with Northern Business, JBS Australia and JBS Global
- Exceptional ability to prioritise and multi-task to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Energetic, passionate and enthusiastic with a demonstrated focus on system improvement
- Experience with ERP systems is a must; SAP is desirable
