Longerenong College was first established over 130 years ago as an agricultural college and has stood the test of time to become a prominent Victorian college leading the field in agriculture technology and education, while also operating a Commercial and Data Farm on-site. With over 100 students boarding full-time, plus over 100 apprentices learning on campus, Longerenong is a unique training facility and farm spread over 1000 hectares.
The Role
The General Manager – Longerenong College, is responsible for leading the successful operation, governance and growth of the college, while also identifying business opportunities and fostering industry partnerships. The role requires a dynamic and strategic leader to continue growth of college operations.
The role is on-site full-time, Monday-Friday. Salary package includes provision of an Isuzu D-Max vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction in the operations of the college to ensure the growth and reputation, whilst managing the college in the best interests of all stakeholders
- Lead the college through growth in a profitable and sustainable manner through managing resources, and capitalising on assets and innovation
- Drive the strategic leadership of the college operations, overseeing a broad range of corporate and strategic activities including Agriculture and Education industry engagement, business development, farm management, facilities and infrastructure management, Occupational, Health and Safety, strategic planning and project management, marketing and external communications
- Manage the activities of the farm to be commercially viable, provide hands-on training. experiences for students, as a demonstration farm for agricultural products including livestock and agricultural technology
- Increase utilisation of college facilities and campus
- Lead the strategy to promote Longerenong College, the DATA Farm and college accommodation through promotions, events and other avenues deemed appropriate
- Manage the implementation of a marketing and growth strategy to target and secure new student enrolments
- Build and maintain a positive team orientated culture where high performance is recognised, constructive feedback is encouraged, and trust is fostered
- Teaching or RTO experience
- Understanding of and passion for agricultural industry and rural communities
- Strong relationship building skills
- Strong leadership skills including experience leading a high performing team
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining organisational culture
- Demonstrated experience in marketing, growth and innovation of business operations
