Job Description

In mid to late 2024, the NRMA will open a new accommodation development on the shores of the world-famous Mon Repos beach. The property will offer guests a unique nature-based experience with exclusive access to one of nature’s most amazing moments: turtles nesting in their natural environment. Guests will be able to stay in a range of accommodation overlooking the beach, including glamping tents, villas and camping sites. A range of resort style facilities and guided turtle tours ensure an unforgettable experience.

The vision is to create a year-round holiday destination offering a unique nature and cultural experience. From local Indigenous culture to seasonal Loggerhead nesting and hatching tours, stargazing, and more – this resort will be a haven for unforgettable experiences.

What you will do:

Commencing in May, you will have property pre-opening experience in the hospitality industry, as you will become a part of the pre-opening team throughout this critical period of the development.

Reporting to the NRMA Operations Manager, you will continue to operate a profitable and sustainable eco-tourism and experience-based resort business, maximising a return on capital investment.

You will consider yourself a confident, 'all-round' leader, asthisvaried rolewill see you build and maintain successful relationships with employees, guests, and key community stakeholders. You will provide aversatile andhands-on approach toleadership andsupport in all areas of resort operations, including food and beverage. There is a requirement for the General Manager to reside onsite in the managers residence and due to the natural environment, the park cannot facilitate pets.

The resort will have a diverse range of new high-quality accommodation options, beachfront caravan sites, suitable food and beverage offerings, tropical landscaped gardens, a resort-style swimming pool, and concierge services.

  • Assist with the resort’s pre-opening operations and recruitment throughout the critical period pre-delivery
  • Ensurean amazing guest experience andmaintainappropriate levels of employees in all areas of resort operations
  • Overseeing asset management focusing on the protection and preventive maintenance of key assets and buildings
  • Oversee the smooth running of the resort’s day-to-day operations across all areas
  • Managing financial budgets with respect to incremental revenue targets, labour, operating costs and monthly re-forecasts
  • Establishing, monitoring and managing key business performance indicators
  • Monitoring and maintaining a high standard of safety of all guests, visitors and employees
  • Manage, develop and drive engagement of a diverse team

What you will bring:

  • Understanding and experience in the eco-tourism space and in property launches
  • Experience with pre-and post-opening recruitment
  • Experience in managing or held an extensive senior role in a resort, or similar tourism-related role
  • Strong skills for building and maintaining relationships with key tourism industry partners, local Parks & Wildlife staff and local First Nations communities
  • You will have experience working in an environment where initiative, organisational and advanced planning skills are essential
  • Previous experience in managing properties with a food and beverage component will be highly regarded
  • You will demonstrate a flexibleattitude to work and the passion to work as part of an operational team who are hands-on, confident and have a passion for delivering outstanding guest relations
  • You will possess excellentverbal and written communication skills and have proven evidence of successful financial and strategic management and ability
  • You are a hands-on leader; you walk the talk and can communicate with and manage staff at all levels
