Note: This is a guide, & as this is a new role in a start-up social enterprise, it will adapt over time. These adaptations will be discussed, & somewhat led by the person in this role, working with the Loop Foundation Board.  

ROLE DESCRIPTION 

The Loop Foundation General Manager (GM) is responsible for working with the Board to develop the strategic plans, then leading the implementation of strategy into all operational aspects of Loop Foundation. This includes leadership of a small, but growing team, overseeing financials, including budgets & cashflow, business development, partnerships, marketing / brand positioning, reporting & risk management functions. 

The GM reports directly to the Loop Foundation Board, via the Chair, & will work closely with the CEO of Loop Global, especially during the first year, & the GM role is embedded into the Loop Foundation.  

This is the inaugural GM role for Loop Foundation, & it is a broad role, with a lot of freedom & autonomy for the right candidate to ‘make the role their own’.   

This role will be ‘hand on’ for at least the first year, however Loop’s growth projections are positive & rapid over the next three years, making this an exciting opportunity for the right person to be part of the growth & success of a WA owned & operated social enterprise which is creating meaningful social impact, by empowering communities, & transforming products & services.  

The position works in line with the vision & values of Loop, keeping the participants & Loop’s focus on creating meaningful social impact, at the centre of all decisions & actions.

As this role is the inaugural GM for the Loop Foundation, it requires a person who enjoys all aspects of leading a social enterprise; from the developing, designing & planning to building & strengthening partnerships & overseeing a team, finances, & operations.  

The right person for this role will be professional, resourceful & enjoy the challenge & rewards which come from building something new. Being both future focused & hand-on, they will be an ‘all-rounder’ & then build a team around them once increased products & partnerships are established & successful.  

This role will build a successful & thriving social enterprise, with the support of the Board, & team members, from the ground up, so the person must be able to create strategy & annual plans, & then implement those plans with agility, confidence, enthusiasm, & compassion.

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Please note: The responsibilities outlined below are ordered in line with their current importance for Loop Foundation. They may change as this new role & the organisation evolves.  

Operational Management / Leadership 20% 

The GM is responsible for leading & managing the team members, & the operations of Loop Foundation, including: 

  • Manage & lead employees, & contractors.  
  • Working with the Board, & Loop Global CEO, to the develop organisational strategies, policies, & practices, & maintain positive culture within entire Loop Foundation.  
  • Ensure all products & services are delivered in a high quality & sustainable way.  
  • Develops & embeds policies & processes to ensure safe, sustainable, & quality operations.  
  • Oversee budgets & finances to ensure Loop Foundation’s operations & products are financially sustainable & competitive.  

Business Development, Partnerships & Fundraising 30% 

  • Develop a fundraising & partnership strategy, with targets & activities for Board endorsement.  
  • Develop & promote a corporate partnerships program for Loop Foundation, in line with values & purpose.  
  • Work with Loop Global CEO to network & promote Loop Foundation as a community partner, & onboard corporate partners. 
  • Ensure corporate partners are nurtured & relationships are strengthened. 
  • Establish new & strengthen existing partnerships & networks. 
  • Act as spokesperson & represent the organisation as appropriate.

Marketing & Communications 20% 

  • Build awareness & presence of Loop Foundation. 
  • Develop, implement, & evaluate marketing & communications strategies to drive community & stakeholder engagement. 
  • Ensure effective, brand marketing communications though out Loop Foundation such as development of Loop Foundation’s website/landing page, communications, & advertising material. 
  • Develop & implement effective digital marketing strategies to improve & increase digital online presence of Loop Foundation. 
  • Facilitate Loop Foundation participation in relevant community events. 

Grant & Sponsorship Opportunities 20% 

  • Develop & implement a grants & tenders plan, ensuring relevant funding opportunities are targeted & deadlines are met.  
  • Create & implement a sponsorship program, inc sponsorship levels, nurture journeys, & sponsorship acquisition plan.  

Financial Analysis & Reporting 10% 

  • Provide regular financial reports including budgets, & cashflow forecasts.  
  • Deliver meaningful, & clear analysis, measurement & reporting of sponsorship, brand awareness, fundraising & media activity results. 

Ethical & Values Based Behaviour 

  • Demonstrates & manages ethical behaviour in accordance with relevant standards, values, & policies. 
  • Applies & promotes the principles of equity, diversity, safety & health in the workplace & behaves & manages employees in accordance with relevant standards, values, & policies. 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

Essential Criteria  

  • Minimum 5years experience working in leadership role, preferably including within a WA based social enterprise, start up or charity.  
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness & ability to develop, & work within limited budgets.  
  • Ability to build revenue as a doer & a leader focused on developing positive outcomes & meaningful social impact.  
  • Demonstrated initiative to seek out new opportunities to enhance & grow the revenue of the organisation through corporate & community partnerships. 
  • Minimum 3 years' experience Partnerships &/or Business Development. 
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in planning & overseeing marketing campaigns, including digital campaigns, promotions, & sponsorship drives. 
  • High level creative writing skills & ability to apply these skills to partnerships, grants, & sponsorship proposals. 
  • Strong written communication skills, experience writing media statements & key messages. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.   
  • Excellent interpersonal & leadership skills & ability to build a team, build marketing capability & mentor employees. 
  • Demonstrated flexible, energetic, & self-motivated approach to planning & implementing work schedule to meet goals & timelines. 
  • Ability to prioritise & problem solve to achieve desired outcomes. 
  • Digital & Computer literacy (i.e.  Social media, Microsoft Office365, SharePoint, & CRM use).  
  • Ability to work autonomously actively contributing towards the organisation's strategic objectives & margins. 

Current (or ability to gain): 

  • Working with Children Check & National Police Clearance (within 6mths)  
  • Requirements to adhere to Loop Foundation policies & procedures. 

Desirable 

  • Previous experience leading a start-up through initial growth phase.  
  • Digital design & website maintenance / content development experience.  
  • Experience in journalism /media relations/PR or similar.  
  • Bachelor or other tertiary qualifications in business, marketing, or similar.  

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS 

Role Specific Key Performance Indicators - to be confirmed with successful candidate

Year 1  

  • Develop & deliver annual budget, showing min. break-even results.  
  • Grants & fundraising proposals submitted regularly at high standard, with 25% + success rate. 
  • Establishment & measurement of social impact framework, reported within annual reports, communications, social media channels, & campaigns. 
  • Proposals for sponsorship & partnerships submitted at a high quality, within timelines. 
  • 30% success rate (minimum) target for sponsorship proposals. 
  • Strengthening community partnerships, & documentation of agreements.  
  • Measurement of participant outcomes, & satisfaction.  
  • Increase in participant numbers, inc hours of work offered.  
  • Establishment of employment pathways, including payroll, & salary packaging for all Loop Foundation employees.  

Year 2  

  • Growth in corporate & community partnerships. 
  • Improved measure & communication of Loop Foundation’s social & community impact.  
  • Growth in Loop Foundation’s brand recognition as a charity & social enterprise. 
  • Increased revenue & profit margin.
