The Skin Cancer Institute is a global not-for-profit membership organisation for General Practitioners and Specialists working in the field of skin cancer medicine, and is dedicated to reducing unnecessary deaths from skin cancer by improving the availability and delivery of best-practice diagnosis and treatment.
The Skin Cancer Institute (SCI) focuses on education, recognition, cross-disciplinary coordination, as well as supporting research and other programs for skin cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis and management to help achieve our vision of a world where no one dies from skin cancer.
The Skin Cancer Institute is looking for a General Manager to lead the organisation into the next phase of growth. This flexible sub-contractor role offers approximately 20-25 hours per week and reports directly to the CEO.
Key responsibilities
The General Manager is responsible for driving strategy implementation; as well as acting as a conduit between SCI and its members. The General Manager will also ensure the effective delivery of the Institute’s operations.
Other key responsibilities include
Delivery of SCI’s strategic plan to the agreed budget and timelines
Develop new proposals, concepts and programs for SCI that support the mission of the Institute
Oversee the operational administration of the Institute, including developing and maintaining effective systems and processes
Build and maintain ongoing relationships with members and other stakeholders to ensure a high level of membership engagement
Build the awareness and reputation of the Institute by actively promoting understanding of, and support for SCI globally.
Manage the Director/s, Advisory Board and Sub-Committees operations. Develop reports and proposals for the board as required.
To succeed in this role, you will have
Education, training and/or relevant experience in Business, Marketing, Management and/or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes through the effective management of financial, physical and human resources.
Experience in project management, including planning and reporting.
Ability to assess priorities and manage competing deadlines in a highly autonomous environment.
Proven high-level interpersonal, presentation skills including experience in developing strategic documents and a range of other written communication.
Possession of expert communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Proven ability to initiate new ideas, analyse complex problems and identify strategies for their resolution.
Experience working within a not-for profit and/or membership-based organisation is highly desirable, as is a knowledge and/or understanding of the medical profession.
