About Us
Central Desert Regional Council is a local government authority covering an area over 282,000 Sq. kilometres. The Council provides a range of services in 12 communities to the North of Alice Springs: Lajamanu, Ti Tree, Wilora, Nturiya, Pmara Jutunta, Willowra, Laramba, Nyirripi, Yuelamu, Atitjere, Engawala and Yuendumu. There are also several homelands and outstations. The Central Desert area is considered remote and disadvantaged and over 80% of the population is Aboriginal.
The Role
The Generalist, People and Culture provides quality support which drives the activities within the People and Culture (P&C) function, ensuring they are understood and valued in accordance with Central Desert Regional Council strategic and regional plans, agreements, policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of organisational design, workforce planning, workplace reform, recruitment and selection and job design activities to prepare for current and future people challenges.
- Assist in the development and implementation of best practice to develop, retain and motivate a skilled workforce in accordance with Council policy and relevant legislation including industrial relations law.
- Assist in the development and implementation of innovative People & Culture and people management initiatives that contribute to the achievement of organisational objectives.
- Facilitate the coordination and ensure compliance with mandatory learning and development (L&D) requirements across Council. Manage and maintain a register of mandatory learning and development (L&D) across Council.
- Research best practice in contemporary human resources management in collaboration with the Specialist, P&C to identify appropriate initiatives and strategies and provide recommendations
- Assist in the development and implementation of innovative people practices that supports a positive culture.
- Be engaged in an effective and proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture.
- Any other reasonable duties delegated by the Supervisor which are within level.
