Position SummaryMonash Health is excited to announce a permanent Genetic Counsellor position within its General Genetics Department, located at Monash Medical Centre Clayton. There is 0.8-0.9EFT at Grade 2-3 available. We are ideally looking for Grade 3 GCs. The General Genetics Department sees prenatal, paediatric and adult patients to provide assessment, management advice, education, counselling and support for a wide range of genetic conditions.About The RoleWe are a medium sized, busy department. We are a friendly, welcoming and supportive team. The department sees prenatal, paediatric and adult patients, for a wide range of genetic conditions. This role does not involve cancer genetics as there is a separate Familial Cancer Centre based at Monash Medical Centre. The role is permanent part-time (up to 0.8/0.9EFT / 60.8 - 68.4 hours per fortnight) depending on the classification of the successful candidate(s)), at Monash Medical Centre Clayton. We are looking for a more experienced GC (Grade 3), however we will always consider Gr2 GCs. There is up to 0.9EFT available, for one or more applicants.About You:
- You have completed a Master of Genetic Counselling Course, with experience working as a GC, ideally in prenatal genetics as well.
- You have a good knowledge and understanding of genetic counselling, including medical, genetic and psychosocial aspects.
- You have demonstrated clinical placement experience in the provision of genetic counselling. You have excellent written and verbal, English communication skills.
- You thrive working in a fast paced environment as part of a multidisciplinary team and are a considerate and collaborative team member.
- You are a proficient computer user, including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new programs quickly.
- You will also need to have Australian working rights.
