Reporting to the Manager Strategic Planning - Mining, the Manager Geology will take a pivotal role in the advancement of Iron Ore, Lithium, and non-ferrous portfolios. The purpose of this role is to increase non-ferrous tenure acquisition, advance existing Iron ore and Lithium exploration assets in new and existing tenements. The successful applicant will also be integral in the due diligence assessments of investment opportunities within Australia and potentially overseas.
The Duties
- Conduct comprehensive geological analyses, including mineral assessments, structural geology studies, and geological mapping to support exploration and development efforts.
- Identify geological risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the safety and environmental compliance of all geological activities.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to geological exploration and resource extraction.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, environmental scientists, and project managers, to ensure the integration of geological considerations into broader project goals.
- Prepare and present geological reports, findings, and recommendations to company executives, stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and other relevant parties.
- Lead geological exploration efforts to discover and evaluate Lithium and non-ferrous resources.
- Ensure adequate resourcing, in collaboration with the Manager Exploration, for effective collection and interpretation of geological data using various tools and technologies, such as geophysical surveys, drilling programs, and laboratory analyses.
- Stay current with advancements in geological technology and tools, assess their applicability to improve exploration and analysis processes.
- Assist with preparation and presentation for JV reporting requirements relating to key Lithium and Non-Ferrous exploration projects.
- Training and development of team members for Lithium exploration and targeting.
Your Experience:
- Extensive professional experience in geological exploration and analysis, with a proven track record of successful projects.
- 15+ years' experience in mineral exploration including management of exploration budgets and drilling programs.
- Prior hands-on leadership experience across a range of commodities, including Lithium.
- Proficiency in geological software and data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of relevant geological and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of WHS (Mines) safety requirements for the execution of exploration works.
- Preferably, you will also hold a current accreditation to be appointed as Statutory Exploration Manager or Site Senior Executive (SSE) in Western Australia for exploration tenure and operations.
