Our ideal candidate:
We are searching for an experienced Geospatial Technology Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in Geospatial Technology, with a preferred background in one of the following areas: GIS, remote sensing, Lidar, or aerial imagery.
An interest in environmental projects and utilising geospatial tools to address environmental challenges are essential qualities for this role.
Key responsibilities:
- Geospatial Analysis: Conduct geospatial analysis using GIS software to support environmental projects, including carbon sequestration, land conservation, and ecosystem monitoring
- Remote Sensing: Employ remote sensing techniques to gather and analyse data from satellite imagery, aerial surveys, and other sources to inform decision-making processes
- Lidar Processing: Process Lidar data to create detailed terrain models, identify vegetation structures, and evaluate landscape characteristics for carbon sequestration and habitat conservation initiatives
- Aerial Imagery Interpretation: Interpret aerial imagery to detect land cover changes, vegetation patterns, and environmental disturbances, contributing to ecosystem monitoring and conservation efforts
- Data Management: Oversee geospatial datasets, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility for project stakeholders. Develop and maintain spatial databases to support ongoing research and monitoring activities.
- Project Support: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide geospatial support for environmental projects, including field data collection, spatial analysis, and mapping services
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in geography, environmental science, geomatics, or related field
- Experience in Geospatial Technology, with a focus on GIS, remote sensing, Lidar, and aerial imagery (min. 3 years as a guide)
- Proficiency in GIS software such as Global Mapper, ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms, as well as any point cloud processing software
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex geospatial data and communicate findings effectively
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
